Round 1: To begin, make a slip knot with your 1st colour, pop the slip knot onto your crochet hook and make 4 chain stitches. Join your chain in a ring by making a slip stitch into the first chain stitch.

Round 2: Make 2 chain stitches (this is your turning chain and counts as 1 half double crochet stitch), now work 11 half double crochet stitches into the ring. To work a half double crochet stitch wrap the yarn around the hook once, then insert it into the ring and pull through a loop. Wrap the yarn around the hook again, and pull it through all 3 loops on your hook. Join your round with a slip stitch into the 2nd chain stitch. Cut your yarn and pull on the loop on your hook until the end pops through.

Round 3: With your 2nd colour, pull your yarn through any stitch of your round, and make 5 chain stitches (this is your turning chain and counts as 1 treble crochet stitch, plus 1 chain stitch). To work a treble crochet stitch; wrap the yarn around the hook twice, then insert the hook into the stitch and pull through a loop. Wrap the yarn around the hook again and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook. Wrap the yarn around the hook again and pull through the next 2 loops on the hook, then wrap it around the hook one more time and pull the yarn through the last 2 loops. Repeat these 2 stitches until you reach the end of the round. Make a slip stitch into the 4th chain stitch to join your round.
