In this video, we’ll be showing you how to make double halk hitches worked from both the left to the right and the right to the left. This macrame technique is really great for accessories and jewelry. We used it in our macrame choker pattern. Now l et’s get started!

We’ve started with 7 strands, but you can use however many you like for this pattern. We have knotted our strands around one of our mini Trigger Rings. Spread your strands out so you can see them nicw and clearly.

Take the strand on the far left and lay it across your other strands.

To work your first double half hitch, pick up your strand on the far left and place it over the strand that lies across and then under.

Take the same strand and pass it over the strand lengthwise.

And then take it under that flat strand and through the loop you just formed.

You can now pull it tight. That is your first double half hitch.

Now we will repeat those steps again until we’ve incorporated all of these strands and worked 6 double half hitches in total.

Now you will work back across from right to left using essentially the same technique across but in the opposite direction.

Take this strand and lie it back across your other 6 strands.

Take your strand on the far right and take it underneath this strand to the left.

Then take it underneath to the right and throught the loop.

Now you can pull it tight.

Repeat this technique working back across right to left until you have made 6 double half hitches in total.

Keep on repeating these steps until your braid is at its desired length.
