First create the core, we made ours using a chain stitch and 3 stranded yarn.

To make your braid, cut 2 long strands of yarn. They need to be 5 and a half times the length of your core.

Secure your strands of yarn to your needle using a cow hitch knot.

Seperate your strands so you have 2 strands on each side. Strands are named A B C D from left to right.

Take strand A behind the chain and up between strand C and D

Then is goes over the chain and sits between the chain and strand B.

Take strand B under the chain between C and D, back over, and between A and the chain. Strand A and B should be back in their original positions now.

Next, take strand C, go under the chain and then over the chain and back to the original position.

Steps 5, 6, 7, and 8 are the 4 movements that make the braid.
